Why did I call this blog leadership girl? Why not call it working mom with four kids, or something else? I could have named this blog almost anything, but decided to go ahead and name it after who I am, and who I want to be- a girl in the lead. Never mind that I’m actually a forty-something mom with a couple of companies. I actually use my leadership skills extensively at home with my kids, au-pair, and husband. I think that leadership is about influence, and influencing others to do what you want them to do. Hopefully, to use those skills for good.
Why Leadership Girl?
- Because I think that more girls and women should be in leadership positions.
- I don’t think that the difference in leadership skills in a woman is as appreciated as it could be.
- I spend a lot of my time mentoring employees, my kids, and other people’s kids, as well as friends, and random strangers. It’s who I am.
- This is my way of giving back to the world at large. I hope that you can learn from my mistakes. Maybe I’ll help you be better than I am. My hope is to build people up to be better at this stuff than I am myself.
In short, Leadership Girl is intended as inspiration to other women, and occasionally men. Who have kids, pets, parents, or other people in their lives. Who have to balance all of the demands being placed on them for their time, money, and sanity. This blog is intended to help you grow your career, and maybe provide a bit of entertainment along the way.
