One of the best ways to increase your revenue stream is to accept ads from advertisers. While the idea is simple, it’s not as easy as advertising on your site that ad placements are for sale. In order to bring in advertisers, you must give them strong reasons to invest their money into your available ad placements.

Here are some of the things that you can do to get more advertisers.

1. Present clear demographic information

potential advertisersAdvertisers need to know the type of users that they will be targeting. That’s why you need to collect information about your audience. Figure out what kinds of hobbies your users have, their gender, average age, average income, and anything else that may help advertisers with their decision.

2. Make your website mobile friendly

Smart advertisers know the importance of being able to reach mobile users. They’ll test your site on mobile devices to check if your content and ads are being displayed properly. If you haven’t optimized your website for mobile yet, using responsive design is a good idea because it allows you to work with one site as opposed to building and managing a separate mobile-dedicated site.

3. Try offering a trial period

The great thing about offering a free trial period is that it costs you absolutely nothing. Most advertisers will agree to a free trial period if they’re getting free traffic. If the traffic that they get from their ads is respectable, they’ll be more than happy to start paying for them. That said, be wary of advertisers that do not fit your audience’s demographic or seem to be only looking for free traffic.

4. Offer real stats

If you already have a few advertisers, ask them how their ads are performing on your website. You can use these stats to give your potential advertisers a general idea of how your existing advertisers are doing with their campaigns. Alternatively, you can try joining affiliate programs for products or services that your audience may be interested in and test how they perform for data.

5. Hire somebody qualified to manage a marketing campaign

Getting advertisers is a big undertaking and requires somebody that can manage such a project. In this case, hiring somebody with a master’s in public administration can help. What is a master’s in public administration (MPA)? An MPA is a graduate level program that focuses on strategic planning, marketing management and other areas. An employee with an MPA can lead your marketing projects so that you are freed up to focus on other projects and tasks.

Getting your advertising program requires that you understand and deliver on what advertisers are looking for. These simple tips will help you prepare for potential advertisers and set you off in the right direction.
