E-commerce has enjoyed an unexpectedly large boom this year, one of the few easily identified positive aspects of doing business in a global pandemic. With the holiday season upon us, it’s likely only to continue to gain momentum. Of course, just because online business transactions are booming doesn’t mean that you should be complacent with your strategies. The more you sell, the better off your business will be.

Create Product Content

Content is an essential e-commerce strategy. It’s how you get information to consumers and entice them to make purchases from your business. If you want to sell more products, one of the things you need to do is create product content. Your product descriptions are mini advertisements cultivated specifically for each product. Focus on how it benefits your customers and provide any relevant information regarding the product. Humans are visual creatures, so remember to take quality pictures of your products to go along with the descriptions you create.

Upsell Customers

Most businesses seem to have products that piggyback off of other products to create better results. It might be a specially formulated shampoo and conditioner package that are designed to deliver shinier, more voluminous hair when using both, or a perfectly paired shirt and accessories set. Upselling your customers helps you improve your sales and can increase customer satisfaction by delivering a greater experience than they would otherwise have. You can use features on plugins like WooCommerce to upsell customers. Show them items that work well with ones they’ve already selected to boost your order value.

Offering Discounted or Free Shipping

Since the popularity of Amazon Prime’s free two-day shipping, consumers have increasingly come to expect low or free shipping costs. If you want to boost your order value and sales volume, send out marketing emails that provide customers with an offer of discounted or free shipping. Of course, you may not want to just offer something for nothing. Use the shipping offer as an incentive to meet certain order values. For example, you might offer discounted shipping if they make a purchase of $50 or more, and free shipping on orders over $100.

If you want your business to sell more, there are some e-commerce strategies you can take advantage of to give your sales a boost. Try creating content to sell your products, work on upselling your customers, and offer discounted or free shipping. Consumers are pushing more and more for online sales instead of in person shopping. Take advantage of it and help your business thrive.
