Hansi is the president of relaxation4.me, a little publisher of grown-up coloring books for relaxation. He calls himself a student of life and studies everything he is interested in. He eats organic raw vegan, and health – physical as well mental – is very important to him.

Entrepreneur Interview Q & A

1. What is the name of your business? What does your business do?

Relaxation4.me is a little publisher which focuses on stress relief for grown-ups. Its grown-up coloring book series was very successful and includes several themes, like animals, fairy tales, asian lucky charms, and swear words.

2. Why did you get into this field? What opportunities did you see?

Getting into this business area was quite random for me. I was working in a 40h/week job (group fitness instructor and personal trainer) and although I was located in a 5 star hotel with many friendly people around me, life was very unsatisfying. I love freedom. So I needed to find a way to break out of the 9-5 cycle.

After many conversations with financially independent people and much, much reading I concluded that the Internet will have the perfect opportunities for me.

At that time coloring books for grown-ups were trending. I studied what a great coloring book was made out, asked customers what they wanted, and delivered a high-quality product that satisfied most customers (You never can satisfy everybody).

3. What have been your biggest challenges?

The beginning. I invested four figure sums into the business but 0 dollars came out. I was desperate because I come from a poor family and didn’t have many savings on my own.

However, when our motivation becomes big enough we are able to find a way. Which I did.

4. What has been your greatest reward?

Besides making a living and having the freedom to work when I want, it‘s the customers. So many people tell me that they love the books, that they help them to relieve stress and many people give my books to a friend as a gift. Thank You to my dear customers 🙂

5. If you could change something, what would it be?

I would have put more effort, time and work in the business in the beginning when there wasn’t much competition around.

After I ensured to pay my rent, food, and training with the incomes, I didn’t publish new books and didn’t run marketing campaigns to acquire new customers.

At the beginning, it would have been rather easy to dominate the market. Now, as there is so much competition around, it can be really hard to reach new customers.

6. What advice would you give to a new entrepreneur?

Don‘t back down. Do something little every single day. Most people underestimate what they can achieve in the long run but overestimate what they can do in the short term.

7. Social Media. Yay or Nay?

Yes. Everybody is on social media nowadays. Not using these channels would be like refraining from huge customer groups.

8. How do you market your products or services?

Word-of mouth-recommendation, social channels, email marketing, and a portion of luck 🙂

9. If your business sells products, how do you handle production?

Everything is automated 🙂

10. What is unique about your business?

One of the coolest facets of my business was the collaboration with artists with disabilities from the Philippines. These guys were really talented. I was lucky enough to be able to share their masterpieces with the world.

11. Sell me your product/service.

Stress is a major issue in the 21th century. Almost everybody in our society is influenced by it. While coloring coloring books, the fear center of your brain – the amygdala – takes a rest, stress is relieved and you feel overall relaxed. This condition is very similar to meditation. Furthermore, coloring trains your creativity, hand-eye coordination, and is fun. You can get some free illustrations on my website. Print it out and try it for free!

12. How can people get in touch with you? What’s your website url and contact information?
