Q & A
Leadership Girl (LG): What is the name of your business?
Michelle Campbell: Time Value Accounting & Business Services, LLC
LG: Tell us about your business…
Michelle: Time Value Accounting & Business Services specializes in helping small businesses to achieve growth and profits with accounting and consultancy competencies that allow business owners to concentrate on professional specializations. Time Value provides business owners with peace of mind by fulfilling finance-related compliance and assistance with tax savings and maximization of profits.
LG: Who do you serve?
Michelle: Time Value Accounting & Business Services serves the small business community as well as individuals with tax planning and tax resolution services. The small business community is varied and large and requires special assistance to remove common hurdles to growth and profit. The lack of training, mentorship, and strategy is reflected in the number of business closures. Time Value wants to help overcome some of these hurdles by providing sound financial management and guidance to otherwise talented small business owners.
LG: What is your website’s url?
Michelle: www.timevalueaccounting.com
LG: How did you get into your current business? What opportunities or needs did you see?
Michelle: Short answer – I felt it was time for a promotion, so I decided to do it myself.
Long answer – We often wait for employers to provide us with the right opportunity or promotion, when in fact, in this day and age, we must take the initiative to do it ourselves. Some employers have good policies and promotion potential, but this is not often the case. I decided that I didn’t want to be on that hamster wheel anymore and to take my livelihood into my own hands.
LG: What have been your biggest challenges?
Michelle: Continuous learning in my industry is extremely important. We must complete 40 hours of CPE per year in order to enhance our knowledge and stay in compliance with federal and state regulations. As an entrepreneur, learning also includes competencies that are outside of my “comfort zone”. This is something I convey to my consulting clients on a regular basis in order to prepare them on their own journey.
LG: What has been your Greatest Reward?
Michelle: My greatest reward is being an actual profit-making business owner. Not because of the money necessarily, but because I have overcome being a shy introvert in order to achieve this goal. When I stop to think about where I am now compared to when I started, the thought is that I actually have paying clients that count on me and trust me. I am grateful for this accomplishment.
LG: If you could change something, what would it be?
Michelle: Seeking a mentor in the early stages of my business would have been ideal. The lack of knowledge on how to find a mentor held me back from achieving growth at that time.
LG: Who are your ideal clients?
Michelle: I have clients from very different industries; seemingly nothing in common. For me, this difference makes life interesting. What I truly want in a client is one that listens and learns, and does so on time. I want to like my clients personally and I want them to like me. If we listen and respect each other, our business relationship will be enjoyable.
LG: Social Media, Yay or Nay?
Michelle: Social media is a given method of marketing and communication today. There is no getting past this fact of entrepreneurial life. The best we can do is to make it as enjoyable as possible.
LG: What is unique about your business?
Michelle: My business is unique because it is geared towards helping small businesses grow. Through our small business packages, we cover everything you need to be in compliance, which frees up your time to work on your business. Our higher-level services helps small businesses to grow and become enlightened in their business. This is our focus. We are not trying to be big CPA firms with expensive and out-of-reach everything. We are helping those who need it the most.
