Running a business in the time of coronavirus can be complicated. When you understand how to respond to an outbreak in your workplace you can have better control of the situation and help keep your employees and customers safe. Follow these tips in the case of a COVID-19 outbreak so you can get back to work safely as soon as possible.

Stop Office Work

The first step in the process when an outbreak occurs is to stop in-office work and send everyone home. Your employees can use this time to get tested, and your business processes can still occur while they are working from home.

It may seem difficult to move operations home, but it can help you prepare for the future and prevent a more significant closure and the outbreak increasing. The more quickly you are able to respond to an outbreak with a closure, the safer your employees will be and the sooner you can return to normalcy.

Sanitize the Workplace

While your employees are working from home, and the workplace is empty you should work to sanitize your workplace. This will ensure that you and your employees and customers will return to a clean workplace and not experience a second outbreak as soon as you return. It typically takes up to 2 hours to sanitize a 1,500 square foot office space. With that in mind, you can get a crew in to take care of office sanitation and have a good idea of how long it may take. The sooner you can get a cleaning crew in, the better.

Keep Communication Open with Your Employees

While everyone is out of the office, it is essential to keep your employees in the loop and to continue communicating regularly. Regular communication can help your businesses processes continue as smoothly as possible, even when everyone is working from home. Close communication will also help your employees feel secure that things are being taken appropriately and will ease the transition back into the office after your closure.

Making your business run smoothly during a coronavirus outbreak can be a daunting task. By remembering to prioritize the safety of your employees and clients, you can manage the outbreak and get back into the office sooner rather than later. With the ease of modern work from home, your business can continue to thrive even when you can’t be in the office.
