As time goes by however, we are starting to see that there are some drawbacks to the new working arrangements. Fortunately, you can work through these things.

Lack of Productivity

For some individuals, working from home has led to a decrease in productivity. It’s much easier to get distracted when you aren’t being monitored by your boss and coworkers. You may have found that your family is distracting you despite their best intentions. To stay productive, you need to discipline yourself and remove distractions. How you groom and dress yourself can affect your productivity. You need to try to maintain your normal routine. Get up on time, eat a good meal, and get dressed for the day. Resist the temptation to stay in your PJ’s. Set some daily goals for yourself.

You can remove distractions by setting up a workspace behind closed doors. You can reduce noise distractions through earplugs or headphones. Talk with your family about the importance of leaving you alone while you are working. Help young kids know what to do if they think they should bother you.

Decline in Work-Life Balance

On the flip side of the coin, some people have started working too much! They have a hard time leaving work alone and taking time to live their lives. This can be especially difficult when you have a heavy workload. However, it’s very important that you take time to rest and rejuvenate. Overworking yourself can lead to depression and insomnia. Physical Decline

Working and living in the same space can lead to a very sedentary lifestyle. This can cause you to gain weight, and lead to depression and other health problems. If you are staring at a computer all day, you could develop eye strain. To avoid this, make sure that you take regular breaks. Stand up and walk around. Do something active to get your blood pumping. Try to plan a rigorous physical activity at least twice a week. If you struggle with this, consider changing up your workstation. Standing desks have lots of benefits, and they are usually pretty stylish too.

You don’t have to accept unfortunate circumstances. You can change things for the better if you are having a rough time with your new work life. With the right mindset, you can make this the best time in your career. How work is accomplished is going through a lot of changes right now.
