An empty warehouse is an empty space that is full of potential. If you happen to have one, you have a golden opportunity on your hands. One of the many options you have is to turn that warehouse into a fresh-looking office space that you can use for your business endeavors or rent out to others for an extra source of income. Sounds awesome, right? So how do you go about achieving that transformation?
Install a New HVAC
Warehouses often have some degree of climate control already in them. Generally speaking, however, it’s woefully inadequate to deal with temperature extremes. This can leave those who use the office space feeling way too hot in the summer and freezing in the winter, especially if they’re close to the doors. To make your new office space comfortable all year long, you’ll likely need to have a new HVAC system installed. This will mean that your electricity bill is likely to be much higher than it used to be, but there are still ways to keep energy costs down, and the people using the space will thank you for it.
Add Color
The typical warehouse color palette is typically full of grayscale and neutral colors, which are bland and uninspiring. The floors are often gray concrete and at least portions of the walls are likely to be more of the same, made from wood, or painted a plain white. A fresh-looking office space needs color to come alive and be inviting. People at the office can spend a lot of their time facing walls. The least that can be done is to provide them a better color to look at. You should also consider painting your floor because concrete can be cold and uncomfortable.
Change Up the Layout
When was the last time you went to an office that was just one large room? Probably never. There’s usually at least a meeting room, a break room, and a separate office or two for management. There’s a good chance you’ll need to add some interior walls or at least some dividers to break up the space and create an actual floor plan. Before you get started, plan the layout and make sure it makes sense so the final product is correct and usable.
Transforming a warehouse into an awesome office space takes a lot of time and work, but is certainly possible. Make sure those using the office are comfortable by installing a new HVAC system. Add some color to the walls and floor to give it some life. Consider changing up the layout to give it a more professional appearance. These are just some of the things you’ll need to do to successfully transform your warehouse. Keep your end goal in mind to help you progress the transformation until it’s complete.
