Whether you’re operating a store or an office where you will serve clients, there are a number of ways to attract customers. You can start by making sure you’re reaching out to the right target audience. Then you can generate some interest through advertising or by having a local television station or newspaper run a story on you. However you also want your actual location to generate interest and repeat business.
That said, here are 5 ways to make your business more appealing to customers.
1. Maintain Full Stocking Conditions
Keep the shelves full of products. This gives the consumer the impression that you have everything they need when they walk in. It also keeps them from having to go to a competitive site to fulfill their purchase. Dedicate someone to counting inventory and ordering when you run out of products. Also, be sure to keep track of what customers buy, and adjust your inventory accordingly. This may require eliminating one product and increasing the number of facings of another to keep the shelves full.
2. Install Clear Signage
Install outside signage that is unique to your brand and draws customers. One way to accomplish this is by using special colors or lighting. You also need to be sure that you check with local zoning ordinances in advance so you know the size limits and lighting restrictions. Design your internal signage so it’s large enough to see and high enough that customers can navigate your store. This prevents confusion and extra walking and searching, which can annoy customers.
3. Keep Aisles Clutter-Free
Boxes, dollies, and equipment can get in the way of your customers. They can also be potential hazards, causing someone to trip and get injured. That is why it is a good idea to do most of your stocking before or after operating hours, or when in-store traffic is minimal. Train employees to work around customers and pick up after themselves.
4. Clean Often
Keep your floors, windows, shelving, and display cases clean. Cleanliness appeals to customers. It demonstrates pride in your business and shows that you care about your customers. But as with clutter, make sure you keep your customers safe. Use signs on floors when you’ve recently cleaned an area to prevent falls.
5. Remodel Store Front
Remodeling an old store or building front can work wonders when it comes to attracting customers. To better display your wares, use more chrome and glass. Look for someone who offers innovative commercial renovation projects for help with projects like this. These types of companies can customize your doors and windows to give your business a sleeker look for street appeal. This can really help make your building seem more appealing and can bring in more traffic.
Start implementing these strategies as soon as you can and see for yourself how they appeal to your customers. It’s likely that you’ll find yourself doing more business with them.
