I just came across this article on being a woman in leadership, and I think that it has some valid points. It is from Athena Vongalis-Macrow on the Harvard Business Review website. I agree with her assessment that being first isn’t always best, but it is a tremendous opportunity.
Just because you can do something doesn’t necessarily mean that you should take the opportunity that is presented. It may not fit with your overall vision, and may not conform to the goals you are trying to reach. I am certain that being female affects my style deeply. It also affects how people perceive me, and their expectations for what I will and won’t do.
What do you think about Gender and Leadership? How do they affect one another?
