It’s Your Own Business and You’re in the Driver’s Seat

"It’s Your Own Business and You’re in the Driver’s Seat" Driving

~by Haley Lynn Gray~.

The cool thing about owning your own business is that you’re in the driver’s seat. You get to decide how much gas, when to brake, and how to steer your business.

This can be both a blessing and a curse.

Why? Because if you’re scared, you can end up spending a lot more time stopped than moving forward. You can find yourself in the worst traffic jam ever in your head.

I see so many entrepreneurs that sell themselves the idea that they can’t make forward progress in their business until they finish their website, or until they achieve some arbitrary milestone. Those roadblocks exist purely in our own minds.

We are our own best allies — and we are also our own worst saboteurs at times.

One thing I like to remind entrepreneurs is that there are many different ways to run a business, and they are all correct. There is very little in the way of absolutes.

If you find that marketing your business online hasn’t worked in the past for you, then perhaps you should consider marketing your business in person. Or perhaps you should consider a different platform entirely.

The possibilities are nearly endless for us as individuals and for growing our business. And you get to decide which of the nearly infinite choices you’re going to take. How many hours a day do you want to work? Where are you willing to work? How are you willing to market? Do you want to answer the phone at all hours of the day and night?

You get to choose. Don’t allow yourself go into overwhelm. And don’t keep lurching back and forth between the various bright and shiny objects that come your way. Instead pick one or two good highways, and then drive yourself down them a good ways to see if they’ll fit your needs.
